Dental Nurse

Job Summary

The Dental Nurse assists dentists and other dental professionals in providing high-quality patient care. The role involves clinical support, infection control, patient preparation, and administrative duties to ensure smooth and efficient dental operations.

Key Responsibilities

Clinical Support

  • Prepare treatment rooms and dental instruments prior to procedures
  • Assist the dentist during examinations and treatments (four-handed dentistry)
  • Provide chairside support during restorative, surgical, orthodontic, and cosmetic procedures
  • Prepare dental materials and medications as instructed
  • Take and process dental radiographs (if licensed/authorized)

Infection Control & Safety

  • Ensure strict adherence to infection control protocols
  • Sterilize instruments and maintain sterilization records
  • Maintain cleanliness and organization of the dental clinic
  • Follow health and safety guidelines at all times

Patient Care & Education

  • Prepare patients for dental procedures
  • Provide pre- and post-procedure instructions
  • Ensure patient comfort and safety throughout treatment
  • Respond appropriately to medical or dental emergencies

Administrative & Coordination

  • Maintain accurate and confidential patient records
  • Assist with appointment coordination and patient follow-up
  • Monitor and manage dental supplies inventory
  • Coordinate with multidisciplinary teams when required

Qualifications & Requirements

  • Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) – Mandatory
  • Minimum 5 years of experience as a Dental Nurse
  • Valid professional nursing license (as per regulatory authority)
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) certification
  • Strong knowledge of dental procedures and infection control standards
  • Excellent communication and teamwork skills
