Duties
- Greet patients warmly and manage patient check-in and check-out processes with professionalism and efficiency
- Schedule appointments accurately using dental practice management software such as Eaglesoft or Dentrix
- Verify insurance coverage, perform insurance eligibility checks, and handle insurance claims processing using systems like Epic, Meditech, or Athenahealth
- Collect payments, process medical collections, and perform billing tasks in compliance with HIPAA regulations and medical coding standards (CPT, ICD-10/ICD-9)
- Maintain organized medical records and ensure documentation review for accuracy and completeness
- Answer multi-line phone systems with excellent phone etiquette, providing clear communication and appointment confirmations
- Assist with administrative support tasks including filing, data entry (10 key typing), and managing electronic health records (EHR systems) such as eClinicalWorks or Meditech
Requirements
- Proven experience as a Medical Receptionist or Dental Receptionist in a clinical setting with dental office experience preferred
- Strong knowledge of dental terminology, medical terminology, ICD coding, CPT coding, and health information management practices
- Familiarity with dental practice management software such as Eaglesoft or Dentrix; experience with EMR (Electronic Medical Records) systems like Epic or Athenahealth is highly desirable
- Ability to handle insurance verification processes confidently and accurately
- Excellent customer service skills combined with professional phone etiquette and strong communication abilities
- Proficiency in computer skills including Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel), typing (10 key), and familiarity with multi-line phone systems
- Bilingual abilities are a plus to serve diverse patient populations effectively
- Prior clinic or healthcare administrative experience is preferred; hospital or medical office management background is advantageous
- Knowledge of HIPAA compliance standards to ensure patient confidentiality at all times
- Strong organizational skills with attention to detail for documentation review and filing tasks
