Responsibilities
- Act as the main point of contact for patients, providing excellent customer service via phone, email, and in person
- Verify insurance benefits, perform insurance eligibility checks, and handle insurance authorizations using systems like Dentrix
- Review and process patient documentation, including medical histories, treatment plans, and billing information in our PMS
- Coordinate appointment scheduling with front desk staff utilizing multi-line phone systems and medical scheduling software
- Explain treatment options to patients clearly and assist with financial arrangements, including payment plans and billing inquiries
- Maintain accurate medical records and ensure compliance with HIPAA regulations for patient confidentiality
- Support clinical staff by managing intake forms, filing medical records, and assisting with documentation review for accuracy and completeness
Skills
- Extensive experience with dental office management software such as Dentrix Ascend or Eaglesoft
- Strong knowledge of dental terminology, ADA coding and dental billing procedures
- Proficiency in insurance verification processes
- Excellent computer skills including Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel), typing (10 key), and familiarity with health information management systems like Dentrix Ascend
- Exceptional patient service skills with professional phone etiquette, multi-line phone handling, and effective communication abilities
- Ability to review medical documentation thoroughly while maintaining attention to detail in documentation review tasks
- Bilingual capabilities are highly valued to serve diverse patient populations effectively
- Previous clinic or dental office experience is preferred; familiarity with hospital or healthcare environment enhances your effectiveness in this role
