Position Summary

Provide comprehensive and appropriate dental care and treatment to patients. Provide supervision to Dental Assistant(s), Dental Student(s), and Dental Hygienist(s) as assigned.

Description of Primary Responsibilities

1) Responsible for patient care

a) Provide necessary dental services to patients of Palms Medical Group within his/her scope of practice in accordance with stated policies, procedures and protocols of PMG.

b) Identify him/herself as a dentist and wear identification badge at all times.

c) Exhibit professionalism when greeting and treating patients in the dental clinic.

d) Provide routine and emergency dental services, including diagnosis and treatment plans, general restorative procedures, crown and bridge construction, removable prosthetics, uncomplicated endodontics and minor oral surgery.

e) Educate, counsel and guide patients on disease prevention and healthy lifestyle habits.

f) Conduct follow-up patient care.

g) Administer and prescribe anesthetics and medication.

h) Refer patients for specialty care to other clinic programs or outside agencies as appropriate.

i) Initiate and interpret x-ray and lab studies.

2) Responsible for coverage

a) Be available after hours to treat or triage dental emergencies as determined necessary.

3) Responsible for administrative duties

a) Assist in dental data collection for UDS and grant applications.

b) Participate on QA/QI activities as directed by the Dental Director.

c) Assist in reviewing dental productivity, scheduling procedures and establishing guidelines for patient care and treatment.

d) Assists with in-service and on-going training of dental staff.

e) Maintain the established system of medical records (E.H.R.) in keeping with current PMG policies and procedures.

f) Advise the appropriate member of management as defined by the institutions organizational chart of any problems you perceive with PMG operations.

g) Participate in community service and dental/health promotion programs.

h) Participate in the review of all dental policies, procedures and protocols.

i) Assume, as requested, the supervision of dental assistants and dental hygienists in accordance with Florida Statutes Chapter 466.

j) Perform any other duty assigned by Dental Director, CMO or CEO to improve the efficiency of PMG.

Requirements:

2) Job duties require the ability to work independently and as part of a team.

3) Shall demonstrate high degree of knowledge and competency in the practice of dentistry and associated charting requirements.

4) Expected to travel and cover other sites during dental absences.

5) Expected to coach, mentor and train dental staff.

6) Assist in the training and mentoring of coworkers by sharing knowledge, providing guidance, and supporting skill development.

Professional & Technical Knowledge:

1) Follow Safety and OSHA requirements,

2) Maintain appropriate certifications,

3) Undergo credentialing, utilization and peer reviews,

4) Employee will be expected to navigate and operate Microsoft Office suite products, including Word and Excel.

Licenses & Certifications:

1) Graduate of an accredited dental school with a D.D.S or D.M.D. degree

2) Current and Valid Dentist license in the State of Florida

3) Current BLS (basic life support) Certification

1) Effectively communicates complex and/or technical information to co-workers, patients and/or vendors
