POSITION OBJECTIVE
Working under occasional supervision, the Department Assistant 1 will meet the administrative needs of members in the department of Physics who are engaged in research, service, and instructional projects. The department assistant will work with the business manager and the other physics staff members to complete the daily work and ongoing projects of the department of physics while creating an environment of helpfulness, cooperation, and trust.

CONTACTS
Department: Continuous contact with faculty, staff, and students. Consult regularly with the business manager, chair, and other staff members to provide a stable and cooperative department.
University: Continuous contact with departments such as payroll, purchasing, international student office, accounts payable, College of Arts and Sciences administration and finance, financial aid, and access services to exchange information.
External: Frequent contact with vendors and guests of the university to exchange information.
Students: Continuous contact with students to exchange information.
SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITY
This position has no direct supervision of staff employees. May assist in training students or temporary employees.
QUALIFICATIONS
Experience: 2 to 3 years of related experience required. Experience in an educational environment with strong office experience preferred.
Education: High school education required.

WORKING CONDITIONS
Typical office environment. The employee will perform repetitive motion using computer mouse and keyboard to type. This position is eligible for Case Western Reserve University's hybrid work schedule.
This position is eligible for hybrid work arrangement up to two remote days per week at the discretion of the department. New employees may begin a hybrid schedule upon approval from the supervisor, successful completion of an orientation period and signing the remote work checklist certification form.
