This position will be joining our Transportation Team. Our Transportation department performs a wide variety of duties that support the District and coordinates with our bus contractor. The primary duties and responsibilities are listed below.


  • Lead point-of-contact for school field trip requests to ensure accurate logistical needs, account codes, and use of software.

  • Work with the bus contractor’s Dispatch Office regarding field trip logistics and billing.

  • Verify billing information and process payment for bus contract, crossing guard contract, and other transportation expenses.

  • Assist with report and data requests from school personnel.

  • Answer incoming phone calls and assist walk-in customers, which often requires problem solving for special situations or upset customers or schools. Quickly respond to emergencies.

  • Verify school boundaries, school bus eligibility and schedule options, explain transportation procedures and policies.

  • Keep transportation documents and forms up to date.

  • Other duties and responsibilities as assigned.

New-to-District Classified employees may be eligible to receive credit for up to two years’ worth of credit for movement (steps) on the Classified Salary Schedule based on relevant prior work experience. Please complete the top portion of this form and provide it to your previous employer for completion. To qualify, newly hired employees must provide this form, completed by your former employer(s), to Human Resources no later than the date of their fingerprinting and appointment.

Index: 01/H/02 ($23.41/hour) to 01/H/04 ($25.31/hour) depending on verified experience for NEW to District Employees


  • Transferring employees or former District employees hired into this role will be placed on the "H" letter grade of the Classified Salary Schedule, but the initial step placement will vary based on a variety of factors.

Benefits include Medical, Dental, Vision, Life Insurance and Public Employees’ Retirement System (PERSI) and are provided to Classified employees who work at least half time (20 hours per week) or more in a regular position and to Certified employees with a .50 FTE or greater contract.

JOB QUALIFICATIONS:

Education & Experience


  • Graduation from high school, preferably supplemented with college level coursework in business management, accounting, or related subjects and two years office experience. Transportation office experience preferred.


Computer Qualifications


  • Ability to use Microsoft Office, Word and Excel

  • Ability to use Google Docs, Sheets, and Forms

  • Ability to maintain accurate data information and records utilizing the computer.

  • Experience with transportation routing and field trip software preferred.


Interpersonal Qualifications


  • Strong customer service skills.

  • Ability to establish and maintain an effective working relationship with school personnel, bus contractor, and the public.

  • Ability to effectively communicate both orally and in writing with peers, district staff, bus contractor staff, the public, and in group presentations and meetings.

  • Ability to work in a team setting while still being able to work independently.

  • Ability to answer questions and inquiries, provide specific information to district staff, bus contractor staff, and parents in a pleasant and courteous manner; correctly deal with emergencies, urgent calls and irate callers.
