Departmental Technician 7-E9 (Region Operations Technician) - Superior Region

Job Description

This position completes a variety of technical assignments in support of the operations/maintenance areas of the Superior Region, including but not limited to, purchasing/procurement contracts and requests under $25,000, processing payments in the state accounting system and tracking reimbursement requests, and assisting maintenance facility supervisors and the financial analyst with compiling data and monitoring the DMG's procurement card processes and invoicing. This position compiles, reviews, monitors, and certifies financial, statistical, and other data; determines eligibility and processes payments in the state accounting system; and tracks reimbursement requests.

This position provides support to the Region Operations Manager, Region Construction Engineer, Region Operations unit and Region Maintenance Staff by performing technical assignments in data review of contracts, timesheet certification, invoices, paying or contacting vendors to discuss disputes/inaccuracies, and creating maintenance reports; maintains financial related spreadsheets ensuring accuracy of files for budget and audit purposes. The incumbent interprets guidelines and regulations related to state and federal programs; and liaisons with other technicians, the region financial analyst, and Transportation Service Center (TSC) Operations Managers. Provide in-person coverage up to 5 days a week.

The "Salary" listed above is a range that reflects the minimum rate at the entry (7) level through the maximum rate at the experienced (E9) level. Based on education and experience, candidates will be reviewed to determine what level they are qualified for.

Required Education and Experience

Education

Education typically acquired through completion of high school


Experience

Departmental Technician 7

One year of experience performing administrative support activities equivalent to the 7-level in state service.

Departmental Technician 8

One year of experience performing administrative support activities equivalent to the 8-level in state service.

OR

One year of experience as a technician or paraprofessional equivalent to the entry level in state service.

Departmental Technician E9

One year of experience as a supervisor of administrative support activities equivalent to the 9-level in state service.

OR

One year of experience performing administrative support activities equivalent to the 9-level in state service.

OR

Two years of experience as a technician or paraprofessional, including one year of experience equivalent to the intermediate level in state service.


Alternate Education and Experience

Departmental Technician 7

Completion of two years of college (60 semester or 90 term credits) may be substituted for the experience requirement.

Departmental Technician 8

Possession of a Bachelor’s degree may be substituted for the experience requirement.

Departmental Technician E9

Possession of a Bachelor’s degree and one year of job-related experience may be substituted for the experience requirement.
