GENERAL OBJECTIVES:
The Deployment Technician will provide hands-on technical support for campus-wide
computer and technology deployments. This role requires strong technical proficiency, A+ standard knowledge, and the ability to install, configure, and troubleshoot hardware and software systems. The technician will ensure that all university devices meet IT standards, are properly configured, and are deployed efficiently to faculty, staff, and students. This position plays a key part in maintaining the reliability and effectiveness of technology operations across the university.
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Experience working with IT Service Management (ITSM) platforms, preferably
Freshservice, including ticket handling, updating work logs, and documenting
deployment activities.
- Hands-on technical experience in computer hardware installation, maintenance,
and troubleshooting.
- Strong working knowledge of A+ standard IT operations, including device imaging,
diagnostics, and repair.
- Proficiency with Windows operating systems; familiarity with macOS is a plus.
- Experience with enterprise deployment and management tools (e.g., Microsoft
Intune, SCCM, imaging solutions).
- Ability to diagnose and resolve technical issues related to hardware, system
configuration, networking, and peripheral devices.
- Understanding of network fundamentals, including IP addressing, connectivity
troubleshooting, and basic network configuration.
- Strong attention to detail to ensure proper setup and adherence to university IT
standards.
- Excellent documentation practices, including recording configurations, asset
details, and deployment notes.
- Ability to manage multiple tasks, prioritize workload, and meet deployment
deadlines.
- Strong organizational skills and accuracy in managing inventory.
- Effective interpersonal and communication skills to assist end users during device
deployment.
- Ability to explain technical processes clearly to non-technical users.
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively within a technical team.
- Strong work ethic, punctuality, and professionalism.
- Industry certifications (CompTIA A+, Network+) preferred but not required.
SPECIFIC RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Utilize the university's ITSM platform (Freshservice) to document deployments,
update tickets, track tasks, and maintain accurate records throughout the
deployment process.
- Deploy, configure, and troubleshoot university-owned hardware, including
desktops, laptops, tablets, printers, and peripherals.
- Perform system imaging, software installation, updates, and configuration
according to IT standards.
- Assist with device lifecycle management, including setup, deployment,
maintenance, and replacement.
- Diagnose hardware and software issues encountered during deployment and
implement effective solutions.
- Ensure proper connectivity of devices to university networks and systems.
- Collaborate with the IT deployment team to meet project timelines and deployment
goals.
- Maintain accurate inventory records, asset tags, and deployment documentation.
- Communicate professionally with faculty, staff, and students regarding device
readiness and technical issues.
- Document deployment processes, device configurations, and issue resolutions for
knowledge base use.
- Handle equipment carefully and responsibly to ensure proper functioning and
longevity.
WORK SCHEDULE:
This is a full-time position with regular office hours between 8:00 a.m. – 5:00 p.m., Monday – Friday. Additional hours may be required during peak deployment seasons.
WORK LOCATION:
This position will work on the main campus, located at 3000 Mountain Creek Parkway, Dallas, TX 75211
