Salary Range: DAG II: Pay Range 9 – Starting salary of $75,208
DAG III: Pay Range 10 – Starting salary of $85,966
Basic Function
This Deputy Attorney General (DAG) position is an advanced prosecutor position in the Office of Attorney General’s Criminal Law Division. The Human Trafficking Section is a group of specially trained agents and prosecutors tasked with investigating and prosecuting all types of human trafficking, including both sex and labor trafficking. This position works closely with attorneys and professionals from other sections of the Office of Attorney General, Commonwealth agencies, the Pennsylvania State Police, federal law enforcement, local law enforcement, and victim advocacy groups.
This position will support Operation PA STRIKE- a grant funded Multi-Disciplinary Team (MDT) consisting of employees from the PA Office of Attorney General (OAG), Salvation Army-New Day, Salvation Army-LIGHT, and Justice at Work. The DAG is required to attend various MDT meetings and trainings and to comply with all protocols and procedures established by the MDT.
The assigned attorney is responsible for all phases of investigation and prosecution, including charging recommendations, Grand Jury, court proceedings, jury trials, and hearings. Significant knowledge and experience with criminal law and criminal procedure is necessary to perform these duties. A Deputy Attorney General II (DAG II) handles noncomplex litigation with minimal supervision and appears in lower courts without a senior attorney. DAG II’s also assist more senior attorneys on matters deemed to be more complex and difficult. A Deputy Attorney General III works independently on most matters but is expected to regularly communicate with the Section Chief. This individual will be responsible for covering cases throughout several counties and should have a willingness to travel.
Applicants should have, or be able to develop, contacts and relationships with local, state, and federal law enforcement and prosecutors’ offices. Applicants should also possess, or be able to develop, contacts and relationships with victim advocacy groups and other stakeholders involved in anti-human trafficking efforts.
