General Description
The purpose of this job is to provide high level customer service work, assisting public in locating land records, historical documents, and any other document in the Clerk’s Office. Performs intermediate skilled administrative support work, processing legal documents, entering data, indexing documents and maintaining court records.
This position works under close to general supervision according to set procedures but determines how or when to complete tasks.
Duties and Responsibilities
The functions listed below are those that represent the majority of the time spent working in this position. Management may assign additional functions related to the type of work of the position as necessary.

Primary cashier for receipting all court documents including but not limited to: land records, judgments, civil cases, court costs and fines, concealed handgun permits, marriage licenses, and copy costs.

Services customers by answering phones, researching and locating deeds and records, setting up online accounts for land and court records, preparing electronic invoices for document requests, and emailing documents.

Services customers by finding what the customers’ needs in the most efficient time possible in a friendly, courteous and helpful manner.

Issue marriage licenses.

Records, scans, indexes, and mail criminal orders, clerks’ orders, and marriage licenses.

Adhere to Court’s policies and procedures manual for paperless case filing.

Prepares and prints Concealed Handgun Permits.

Records, scans, and files criminal documents in the Case Information System (CIS).

Provides notary services and take depositions.

Performs related work as required.
Minimum Qualifications
Education: Requires High school diploma or GED.
Experience: Six (6) months experience in a legal office or equivalent combination of education and experience. Prefer experience working with civil cases in the Circuit Court.

Physical Demands
Sedentary Work – Involves lifting no more than 10 pounds at a time, and occasionally carrying objects weighing up to 5 pounds.
