The City of Richmond Department of Human Resources is seeking a Deputy Department Director, Senior to oversee the planning, directing, and coordination of all functions within the Human Resources Talent Management business unit, including Talent Acquisition, Employee Engagement, and Learning and Development.
This highly visible role works closely with the Human Resources Director to develop short- and long-term strategies that support the department’s strategic plan. The position requires independent judgment and decision-making in areas where established rules, regulations, or policies may not exist.
The Deputy Department Director, Senior provides coaching and support to Division Chiefs, administrators, and supervisors, and exercises significant authority in making effective decisions related to employee talent and workplace performance.
REQUIRED MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
Bachelor’s degree in public administration or any other field directly related to assignment
Minimum of eight (8) years of progressively responsible experience in human resource management; Public sector experience is preferred.
Effective oral and written communications; strong analytical ability, and the ability to prepare efficient and effective studies and reports on complex issues
Valid Driver's License with a satisfactory driving record and a valid Commonwealth of Virginia Driver's License within 30 days of hire
