Deputy Director - Investigations

JOB
The Deputy Director reports directly to the Director of Investigations, acting as lead investigator while conducting and supervising criminal and civil investigations and special projects as assigned by the Director. The primary purpose is for civil litigation assistance or possible criminal prosecution. This will involve writing and/or reviewing detailed reports including affidavits of probable cause, search warrants and interview transcriptions. The ability to recognize and explain complex matters and to distinguish essential investigative data from non-essential data. It may also be necessary to collect and/or supervise the collection of data/evidence from all available sources, take photographs, video and audio recordings and conduct surveillance when necessary. The high volume of civil investigations requires regular negotiation, daily phone work, high levels of organization and meticulous note taking and report writing. This is a statewide position that may require some travel, including occasional overnight travel and occasional extended hours when needed. The Deputy Director must be able to fulfill the duties of the Director in his absence.

EXAMPLE OF DUTIES
Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following: Provide supervisory and managerial leadership, while developing, mentoring and overseeing a team of investigators in the office and the field.Act as lead detective or case agent on civil litigation cases as well as criminal cases.Collect and analyze essential investigative data, information, and statements from non-essential.Develop and implement creative investigative tools and techniques that produce results.Document investigative results, completing all reports and maintaining all records and files.Be able to testify in criminal or civil court proceedings.
