Job Description:

The Deputy Director of Project and Performance Management for MLTC plays a strategic leadership role in driving results across Nebraska’s Medicaid and Long-Term Care system. This role ensures successful project delivery, performance measurement, and continuous improvement efforts across the division, enabling MLTC to fulfill its mission of helping people live better lives.

The Deputy Director is responsible for aligning projects with strategic goals, building a strong project management culture, and developing a comprehensive performance framework to measure outcomes, support data-driven decisions, and promote accountability.


Examples of Work:

  • Supports the Medicaid waiver processes.

  • Provide leadership for MLTC’s strategic project planning and execution, ensuring alignment with Medicaid goals, federal requirements, and agency-wide priorities.

  • Oversee the development and implementation of project plans, timelines, and deliverables across MLTC, ensuring high-quality results and accountability.

  • Facilitate cross-functional collaboration with other MLTC teams, external partners, and contractors to ensure effective implementation of strategic initiatives

  • Represent MLTC in cross-agency meetings, legislative hearings, and stakeholder discussions to communicate progress, promote transparency, and advocate for MLTC priorities.

  • Monitor and evaluate project risks and performance gaps; provide recommendations and adjustments to maintain alignment with MLTC’s mission and outcomes.


Requirements/Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Public Administration, Health Policy, Business, or related field (Master’s preferred).

  • Minimum of 5 years of progressive experience in project management, performance improvement, or strategic planning in a public or healthcare setting.

  • Demonstrated success in leading high-impact, cross-functional projects in complex organizations.

  • Strong understanding of Medicaid, public health, or human service programs preferred.

Salary: Commensurate with education and experience, if approved.
