The Deputy General Manager – Customs Documentation will lead and manage India-wide customs clearance and documentation operations. This role ensures standardized processes, regulatory compliance, system efficiency, and strong stakeholder coordination across ports, ICDs, and logistics hubs, strengthening the organization’s national presence.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead and oversee customs clearance and documentation operations across all India locations.
- Ensure timely, compliant movement of cargo across ports, ICDs, and CFS locations.
- Supervise branch operations teams, ensuring SOP adherence and process standardization.
- Manage relationships with customs authorities, ports, shipping lines, transporters, and freight forwarders.
- Conduct customer visits to review service delivery, address operational issues, and improve satisfaction.
- Monitor and enhance documentation systems, workflows, and MIS reporting.
- Handle dispute resolution with customs authorities and shipping lines, ensuring proper follow-ups and closure.
- Ensure compliance with Incoterms, Indian Customs Act sections, and applicable trade regulations.
- Drive cross-functional collaboration and national-level team management initiatives.
- Prepare and present MIS reports on clearance timelines, operational performance, and cost impact.
- Support expansion and management of clearing and handling services across strategic ICDs for Sharp Logistics and Sarjak Container Lines.
- Be open to extensive travel across India as per operational requirements.
Educational Qualifications & Experience
- Graduate / Postgraduate in Logistics, Supply Chain, International Business, or related field.
- 10–12+ years of experience in customs documentation and clearance.
- Experience in container logistics, shipping lines, freight forwarding, or CFS operations preferred.
