Ensure all contract terms are commercially sound, legally compliant, and aligned with organizational policies, risk appetite, PPRA framework and other applicable rules, laws and policies
Prepare contract summaries, risk registers, and obligation trackers for senior management review
Contract Administration & Lifecycle Management
Manage end-to-end contract lifecycle including milestone tracking, deliverables, change orders, and variation management
Monitor contract performance against agreed KPIs, SLAs, and payment schedules; flag deviations for timely resolution
Maintain a centralized, auditable contract repository with version-controlled documentation
Coordinate timely contract renewals, extensions, and terminations in accordance with contractual provisions
Procurement Support
Assist in preparation of procurement documents, inter alia, tender documents (RFX) and procurement contracts.
Provide contract specific input during procurement lifecycle where required
Claims, Disputes & Risk Management
Identify, assess, and manage contractual risks throughout the contract lifecycle
Handle contractor/vendor claims, back charges, penalties, and dispute resolution in line with contract terms and organizational procedures
Liaise with the Legal team in cases escalated to arbitration, DAB, or litigation
Stakeholder Coordination & Reporting
Serve as the primary point of contact for all contract-related queries from internal departments and external vendors
Prepare periodic reports on contract status, contract risks, vendor performance, KPIs for VP
Procurement and senior management
Support internal and external audits by maintaining complete, accurate, and readily accessible contract files
Policy & Compliance
Ensure all contracting activities comply with applicable rules, laws, organizational SOPs, and applicable national regulations
Support development and periodic review of contract management policies, templates, and standard operating procedures
Provide guidance and capacity building to junior procurement staff on contract management best practices
Requirements
University degree (16 years education) in Business Management, Procurement, Supply Chain, Contract Management or any related field. Degree in law / master's degree preferred
Certification in Contract Management is a plus
6 to 7 years of progressive experience in contract management of which at least 3 years should preferably be in a public sector or state-owned enterprise environment. Proven track record in high-value tendering, contract management is desired.
Working knowledge of PPRA Framework (Federal or Provincial), Contract Act 1872, general principles of administrative law applicable to SOEs and demonstrated hands-on experience of managing contracts across multiple categories (civil works, IT/technology, professional services, goods/supplies, consultancy services)
Proven track record of independently handling contract negotiations with vendors, consultants, and contractors, contract risk identification and developing mitigation strategies
Strong drafting ability for commercial and procurement contracts, LOIs, MoUs, NDAs, SLAs, and procurement correspondence
Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint), able to prepare contract trackers, pivot reports, and dashboards
Familiarity with FIDIC contract conditions (Red/Yellow/Silver Book) and knowledge of contract close-out procedures, final account settlement, and retention release processes
