Job Role Overview
The Deputy Manager – Procurement is responsible for managing the end-to-end procurement of construction materials, equipment, and services required for project execution. The role ensures timely sourcing, vendor development, cost control, contract management, and compliance with company standards and technical specifications.
Key Responsibilities
1. Procurement Planning & Strategy
- Develop and implement procurement plans aligned with project timelines and budgets.
- Coordinate with Project, Engineering, and Planning teams to understand material requirements.
- Forecast material needs and ensure uninterrupted supply.
2. Vendor Management
- Identify, evaluate, and onboard suppliers/vendors for construction materials and services.
- Maintain a qualified vendor database and ensure fair procurement practices.
- Conduct vendor performance assessments based on quality, delivery, and pricing.
3. Sourcing & Purchase Operations
- Float enquiries, obtain quotations, and analyze bids (technical & commercial).
- Prepare comparative statements and negotiate rates, payment terms, and delivery schedules.
- Issue Purchase Orders (POs) and Work Orders (WOs) as per approved procedures.
- Ensure material specifications comply with IS codes, project drawings, and technical requirements.
4. Contract & Cost Management
- Assist in drafting and finalizing supply contracts, rate agreements, and service contracts.
- Ensure procurement activities meet budget targets and optimize cost savings.
- Monitor price trends and maintain cost-control mechanisms.
5. Coordination & Documentation
- Coordinate with warehouse, logistics, and site teams for timely delivery of materials.
- Ensure all procurement documents are accurate and properly maintained (POs, WOs, GRNs, invoices).
- Resolve any disputes regarding quality issues, delivery timelines, or billing.
6. Compliance & Quality Assurance
- Ensure procurement is conducted as per company policy, ISO standards, and statutory requirements.
- Verify test certificates, quality reports, and compliance documents.
- Liaise with QA/QC teams to ensure material quality at site.
7. Market Research & Risk Management
- Track market conditions, supplier risks, and industry developments.
- Identify alternate materials and vendors to mitigate supply chain risks.
- Support management in strategic procurement decisions.
8. Team Support & Reporting
- Guide junior procurement staff and ensure adherence to processes.
- Prepare procurement status reports, MIS, vendor performance reports, and cost summaries for management review.
Required Skills & Competencies
- Strong knowledge of construction materials, specifications, and equipment.
- Excellent negotiation and vendor management skills.
- Proficiency in SAP/ERP procurement modules.
- Strong analytical, communication, and documentation skills.
- Ability to manage multiple projects and meet deadlines.
- Knowledge of contractual terms, taxation, and commercial regulations.
Experience Requirements (5–10 Years)
- Minimum 5 years of procurement experience in construction / infrastructure / real estate projects.
- Proven track record in vendor development, rate negotiations, and contract management.
- Hands-on experience in procurement planning for mid to large-scale projects.
- Experience using ERP/SAP or similar procurement software.
Job Types: Full-time, Permanent
Pay: ₹420,000.00 - ₹600,000.00 per year
