About this Role:

We are seeking a Transmission Optical Networks Specialist to maintain high availability of transmission Optical Networks and platforms within Vodafone Global Network along with Enterprise customer services globally.

What you will do:

  • Ensure availability of network and platform 24x7.
  • Obtain 95% of incident resolution, minimising MTTR.
  • Support provide and build activity.
  • Manage and assist change activity with zero incidents due to change.
  • Provide infrastructure maintenance to support customer and platform requirements.
  • On-board new networks and systems.
  • Act as SME during major incidents.
  • Manage multiple projects in an intense environment.
  • Prepare detailed performance and benefit analysis.
  • Improve team performance and simplify complex processes.
  • Provide real-time operational support for complex multi-technology solutions.
  • Adopt a customer-focused approach to meet desired customer experience.

Who you are:

  • Full SC / BC Security Clearance where required.
  • Strong communication skills, both written and verbal.
  • Ability to remain calm when working to demanding timescales and deadlines.
  • Confident communicator able to operate at all levels with customer representatives, suppliers, and Vodafone colleagues.
  • Proactively identify self-development needs.
  • Strong understanding of all network disciplines.
  • Knowledge sharing among team members.
  • Follow the use of common processes.

What skills you will learn:

  • Advanced network technology skills including PDH, SDH, DWDM, SONET, and Ethernet Technology.
  • Proficiency with equipment such as Ciena Wave Server AI, RLA, CD, CI, 6200, 4200, 5410, 5430, Ex.Nortel 6500, CPL, Huawei OSN 6800/7500/8800, M Series Nodes, and Infineta DTN XTC-10.
  • Expertise in OSS tools like CRAMER, MORI, and monitoring tools like EMS/NMS/SMIT.
  • Experience with ticketing tools such as Remedy
