Job Summary:

Nicholas O'Dwyer is seeking a Deputy Team Leader / Deputy Project Manager to play a pivotal role in delivering wastewater infrastructure projects in Mersin, Türkiye. This role will assist the delivery and team coordination for the design review and construction supervision and defects notification period phases of several wastewater treatment plants and marine outfalls in multiple locations within the municipality of Mersin.

Key Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Support the Team Leader in supervising wastewater treatment plant construction projects, ensuring compliance with FIDIC contract conditions and EBRD requirements.
  • Assist in project planning, scheduling, and progress monitoring, including reviewing contractor programs, tracking milestones, and identifying deviations from the project plan.
  • Coordinate with stakeholders (Client, PIU, contractors, consultants) to facilitate communication, resolve issues, and ensure timely decision-making throughout the project lifecycle.
  • Oversee quality, safety, and environmental compliance by monitoring contractor adherence to approved plans (e.g., CESMP, QMP) and supporting the implementation of corrective actions as needed.
  • Contribute to reporting and documentation, including preparing or reviewing progress reports, cost reports, and supporting the Team Leader in maintaining accurate project records and deliverables.
  • Maintaining a culture of continuous improvements across all aspects of the working environment and projects.
  • Training will be provided to fulfil the requirements of your role, your participation to all essential training will be required.
  • To ensure maximum flexibility and to reflect the Company's evolving needs, additional tasks and responsibilities will form part of this role as it evolves.

Key Requirements:

  • BSc in Civil or Environmental Engineering as a minimum.
  • Proven experience in the management of delivery of Wastewater Treatment Plants.
  • Minimum of 10 years professional experience,
  • Minimum 5 years of experience in supervision services of wastewater treatment plant construction projects as Project Manager, Team Leader, or equivalent position.
  • Previous experience with execution or supervision of at least one project financed by the International Financial Institutions (such as EBRD, IFC, AFD, WB, ADB, AfDB) and under FIDIC Conditions of Contract.
  • Experience in construction supervision services of at least two large-scale WWTP projects.
  • Knowledge of FIDIC conditions of contract
  • Preferably, PMP or similar reputable accredited project management certification or postgraduates in project management.
  • Fluency in written and spoken English is required, whereas knowledge of Turkish is desirable.
  • Experience in the region is desirable.
  • Competent in office packages, Microsoft, excel PowerPoint etc.
  • Good time management skills, with the ability to prioritise work and manage many tasks concurrently.
  • Excellent clear and concise communication skills and the ability to work as part of a multi-disciplinary and multi-cultural team.
