Summary:
The deputy PDA will support the Telecom & CCS PDA of CML1, throughout the technical workshops held with the Engineer and the Employer.
This support is needed in order to cope with the high number of subsystems (21) included in the Telecom & CCS work packages.
His/her first assignment will be to get approved each of the conceptual designs written for Telecom & CCS subsystems.
Role & Responsibilities:
The primary activities of the deputy PDA are:
- Supports the PDA in overseeing the acceptance of the Solution by the customer.
- Acts as support technical interface with the Customer as regards Solution architecture, design and performance.
- Ensures the solution compliance with Product Policy, MTB/production/services strategies, contractual requirements (including offsets) and applicable legislation & regulations (i.e. export restrictions, Environmental/HSE, safety, security.
- Define the best trade-off between the solution and customer requirements that may vary during the project execution, to stay consistent with budge, risk & opportunities, schedule, and critical performance.
- Organizes when appropriate technical meetings and peer reviews together with the Architect (ARC) and the SEM and other stakeholders (industry, services, Safety & HSE, specialties…), in order to perform the solution technical assessment and validation.
- Checks the production, the deployment and the maintenance/service aspects of the Solution with the Production Process & Technology Manager (PPTM), the Deployment Project Manager (DPM) and the Service Engineering Manager (SvEM) respectively. The resulting conclusions are taken into account by the PDA for the Solution design validation and reflected in the DVA.
- Takes into account the remark from the DA as regards the validity of the Solution and the risk assessment and mitigation. Reports regularly to the DA on technical status and on technical risks.
Experience, Skills & Qualifications Requirements:
- University degree in Communications or Computer sciences, Engineering or a closely related field.
- Mandatory to have strong oral and written communication skills in English.
- 10+ years of experience with Railway signaling projects design and implementation.
- 5+ years’ experience leading multidisciplinary engineering teams.
- Proven customer communication / technical management skills.
- Engineering delivery process experience for Project PDA.
- Experience in safety critical system with experience covering full SW or HW development life cycle.
- Strong application (automated train control systems) domain knowledge & knowledge of modern software engineering practices, methods and tools.
- Involved in the delivery of more than 1 railway telecommunication project in some capacity including experience in System Design, System Integration, and System Acceptance.
- Delivery of complex systems.
- Good marketing and presentation skills. Ability to sell/defend products to customers with differing levels of knowledge about automated systems.
