Minimum
Qualification:
High school diploma/GED, Georgia P.O.S.T. certification, and two (2) years of supervisory custodial experience in a criminal justice or correctional system, one (1) year of which experience is at a level equivalent to Correctional Lieutenant (PSP065) involving management of staff through subordinate supervisors or managers, or one (1) year of experience at the lower level Correctional Asst Supt (PSP120) or position equivalent.
Preferred
Qualification:
Preference will be given to applicants who, in addition to meeting the Minimum Qualifications, possess one or more of the following:
One year of full-time experience in directing through subordinate managers, activities and staff appropriate to the area of assignment (i.e., security or care and treatment) at a state correctional facility operated by the Georgia Department of Corrections.
Two years of full-time experience in directing through subordinate managers, activities and staff appropriate to the area of assignment (i.e. , security or care and treatment) in a correctional setting outside of the Georgia Department of Corrections or in a community-based care and treatment or similar program/organization.
Completion of an undergraduate degree in criminal justice, one of the behavioral sciences (e.g. counseling, psychology, sociology, etc.), or a related field at a four year college or university.
Note: For positions serving as a single Deputy Warden for both Security and Care and Treatment, appropriate management experience in the area of security is preferred.
