Position Overview
We are seeking a skilled and compassionate Nurse Practitioner (NP) or Physician Assistant (PA) with experience in medical dermatology to join our growing rural health dermatology practice. This role is ideal for a provider who values meaningful patient relationships, continuity of care, and improving access to dermatologic services in underserved communities.
The provider will diagnose, treat, and manage a wide range of medically necessary skin conditions while working collaboratively with supervising physicians. This position focuses exclusively on clinical dermatology, emphasizing evidence - based care, patient education, and community impact.
Key Responsibilities
Perform comprehensive dermatologic evaluations, including detailed histories and full - body skin examinations.
Diagnose and manage common and chronic dermatologic conditions (acne, eczema, psoriasis, rosacea, dermatitis, fungal infections, rashes, etc.).
Identify and treat precancerous and cancerous lesions (AK, BCC, SCC, melanoma) within scope of practice.
Perform medical dermatology procedures including:

Shave, punch, and excisional biopsies
o
Wound care and post-procedure management
Order, review, and interpret dermatopathology and diagnostic tests.
Develop individualized treatment plans in collaboration with supervising physicians.
Prescribe medications and therapies in accordance with licensure and clinical guidelines.
Provide patient-centered education on skin health, disease prevention, and treatment expectations.
Maintain accurate, timely documentation in the EMR.
Uphold all regulatory, clinical, and HIPAA standards.
Participate in ongoing professional development and dermatology - specific continuing education.
Qualifications
**Required**
Master’s degree from an accredited NP or PA program.
Current NP or PA license in North Carolina.
National certification (AANP/ANCC for NP; NCCPA for PA).
**Minimum 1 year of dermatology experience** (medical dermatology strongly preferred).
Strong diagnostic reasoning and procedural skills.
Excellent communication and patient - education abilities.
Ability to work independently and efficiently in a fast - paced clinical setting.
**Preferred**
Dermatology certification (e.g., DCNP for NPs or equivalent dermatology-focused certification for PAs) or willingness to pursue certification after hire.
Experience performing dermatologic procedures (biopsies, cryotherapy, lesion removal, etc.).
Familiarity with dermatoscopy and EMR systems.
