The Position: We’re looking for a design assistant to help the design, maintenance and service departments with plan creation and adjustments. The pay range we’re offering is 30-45k based on experience. We offer significant bonuses for performance.

A Day In the Life:

The Design Assistant will begin the day by grabbing a cup of coffee (or tea) and reviewing any requests for plans, renderings, permit requests, etc. from the designers, maintenance coordinator, and/or service coordinator.

They will then create a to-do list of all priorities for the day that could involve creating lighting designs in photoshop, generating As-Built plans for the service and maintenance team, or other urgent priorities that are needed for the day.

The morning is spent completing any urgent tasks first, and then moving into the ongoing responsibilities: posting on the company social media accounts, attending project meetings, and communicating with the designers.

The afternoon involves communicating with designers and service team members to get any information needed to complete the requested projects and designs and going back to finish any outstanding tasks for the day.

At the end of the day, they take stock of the tasks that are complete, those that are outstanding, and those that need to be started the following day. They will also provide any status updates to the designers, answer any outstanding emails, and send any necessary follow ups.

Requirements:

• Strong technical skills
• Strong work ethic
• Software knowledge (required): Photoshop, Microsoft Office
• Proficient in preparation of construction documents and technical specifications
• Strong written and verbal communication skills as well as ability to work well in both a team and solo.
• Strong multi-tasking ability and time management needed
• Knowledgeable of social media platforms

Responsibilities:

• Prepare lighting designs in photoshop
• Rendering plans
• Generate and update As-Built plans for service and maintenance.
• Communicate progress with team members
• Research products and materials
• Attend project meetings
• Prepare and apply for municipal permits
• Keep up to date on municipal code and compliance
• Learn lighting design and construction management
• Manage the company social media profiles

The Location: Lightscape is based in Libertyville, IL. This is a great area to work because it is close to the tollway, has a great downtown area, and is near our work market.

Pay: $30,000.00 - $45,000.00 per year
