Design Associate (Part Time)

WHAT WE ARE LOOKING FOR:
A smart, savvy, motivated mid-career architectural professional looking for part time work. You’ll work with our small design team on design & documentation.
Someone capable of leading projects. Oversight & support provided to supercharge your work.
Ideal candidate has some multi-family experience in addition to single-family.
Self-motivated folks who really care about their work and getting their projects built.
Part time position that could grow into full time later in Q26 as desired. (20-25 hrs/wk)
This is a mostly-remote position. We prefer a local candidate and occasional in-person co-working out of our Seward Park office.
Rather than micromanage, we strongly prefer to empower you to grow, be effective, and develop your own ways to deliver stellar results.
WHO YOU ARE:
· passionate about housing, design, development, and/or construction
· well rounded and adaptive
· a strong design background
· either a degree in Architecture *or* a clear demonstration of commitment to the acts or professions of construction, design, and/or development
· willing to learn
· curious
· thoughtful
· focused
· 5+ years of experience
· Licensure not required.
(SKILLS) YOU SHOULD HAVE THE ABILITY TO:
· communicate clearly and thoughtfully
· ask questions and listen to the answers
· self-direct, prioritize and multi-task
· be critical of the details
· to manage projects & drive them toward critical milestones
· to bring your A game to work, every day
· to provide recommendations for team-wide improvements
· work on a small team, wear many hats, and pitch in on unique or new tasks beyond your “role”
· organize your digital work: to draft or model cleanly & meticulously
· learn new software quickly & develop efficient workflows between software environments (General digital fluency)
· demonstrate experience in most or all of these programs:
· the ability to put your phone away while working
SUPER SKILLS YOU MIGHT HAVE:
· hands-on construction experience
· a belief that your work and contributions to the world really does matter
· a burning desire for self improvement
· Some sort of special x-factor you have found within and cultivated
A TYPICAL DAY:
· Designing or documenting residential projects such as renovations or infill multifamily housing
· Generate high-quality design drawings, graphic design work, renderings and visualizations to support design projects and marketing pursuits.
· May participate in project pursuits, client presentations and community engagement activities.
· May coordinate multiple consultants and engineered systems.
· Completing supplemental documents or tasks related to client presentations, client requests, and permitting requirements
· Finding innovative ways to complete tasks & projects
· Designing real things that will get build for real people and clients
· Working individually and collaboratively to get things done
· Contributing to the design process whenever possible
· Working alongside clients, engineers, developers, and construction teams to provide critical project information and help solve their problems
COMPENSATION:
Hourly rate based on experience / skill set, between $45-$60/hr
