Design Consultant

Position Summary

Heritage Haus is a boutique furniture and design showroom located in the Magic Valley community, offering curated furnishings and custom furniture crafted to suit each client’s home and lifestyle.

The Design Consultant works directly with customers to create beautiful, functional living spaces using Heritage Haus furniture, lighting, rugs, and accessories. This position combines interior design expertise, space planning, and a goal driven sales professional to assist clients in bringing their vision to life while delivering exceptional customer service.

Design consultants develop long-lasting relationships with clients, guiding them through the design process and managing their projects from the first step through final delivery.

Primary Responsibilities

Client Experience & Design

· Engage with clients in the showroom, in their homes, or through virtual consultations to understand how they live and what they value in their spaces.

· Work from the approved HH training manual to be sure that we are consistent with qualifying customers and asking the right questions for best practices.

· Create cohesive room plans that include furniture layout, color selections, and accessory recommendations.

· Present design ideas through floor plans, sketches, mood boards, or digital tools to help clients envision the finished space.

· Recommend furniture, rugs, lighting, textiles and accessories that reflect both the client’s lifestyle and the aesthetic of the home.

· Create interiors that feel balanced, timeless, and personal to the client.

Sales & Client Relationship Development

  • Meet or exceed individual and showroom sales objectives.
  • Cultivate long-term relationships that lead to repeat projects and referrals.
  • Prepare proposals, quotations, and orders with attention to detail and accuracy.
  • Maintain an active pipeline of design clients and projects.

Project Coordination

  • Oversee orders from selection through delivery, ensuring timelines and expectations are clearly communicated.
  • Coordinate custom furniture specifications when needed.
  • Address client questions or concerns with professionalism and responsiveness.

Showroom Experience

  • Contribute to a beautiful and welcoming showroom environment that reflects the Heritage Haus brand.
  • Remain knowledgeable about current collections, materials, and customization options.
  • Assist with merchandising, receiving, and presentation of new inventory.
  • Work collaboratively with store team members to support overall sales and service goals.

Interpersonal Skills

The Design Consultant represents the Heritage Haus brand in every client interaction and must demonstrate professionalism, emotional intelligence, and strong interpersonal awareness. This role requires the ability to build trust quickly, listen carefully to client needs, and translate conversations into thoughtful design solutions that reflect each client’s lifestyle and personality. The consultant works closely with clients from the initial consultation through final installation, communicating clearly, managing expectations, and guiding decisions that balance aesthetics, functionality, and budget while collaborating effectively with team members, vendors, and delivery partners to ensure a seamless and memorable customer experience.

Qualifications

Professional Background

  • Experience in interior design, home furnishings, or luxury retail preferred.
  • Ability to space plan and create furniture layouts.

Core Skills

  • Strong understanding of scale, proportion, materials, and color.
  • Ability to communicate design ideas clearly and confidently.
  • Highly organized with the ability to manage several projects simultaneously.
  • Comfortable working in a sales driven environment with measurable goals.

Education (Preferred)

  • Degree or formal training in Interior Design or a related field, or comparable professional experience.

Compensation & Benefits

  • Flexible Part-Time Schedule: 20–32 hours per week, with potential to transition to full-time as client demand and project workload grow.
  • Competitive Hourly Compensation: $18–$25 per hour based on experience and design expertise.
  • Team Sales Commission: Participation in an employee commission pool equal to 2% of total showroom gross sales, encouraging collaboration and shared success.
  • Flexible Work Environment: Scheduling flexibility to accommodate client consultations, showroom coverage, and project work.
  • Growth Opportunity: Role designed to expand into a full-time design position as individual client relationships and project volume increase.

Pay: $36,000.00 - $48,000.00 per year
