Design Developer/Industrial Designer

Crux Retail designs and builds custom retail display programs for brands in the outdoor sports, automotive aftermarket, and home improvement industries. Our work goes from napkin sketch to factory floor — and the person in this Design Developer role owns a big chunk of that journey.

What this role actually is

You'll take conceptual designs and engineer them into production-ready reality. That means CAD modeling, drawing packages, BOMs, vendor communication (domestic and overseas), prototype coordination with in-house staff, and the kind of relentless problem-solving that happens when a design meets real-world constraints.

You own the process end-to-end. You'll be originating solutions, identifying potential issues before they become expensive, and moving fast without cutting corners.

What you'll be doing

• Building and organizing SolidWorks models and drawing packages for production
• Developing detailed BOMs and manufacturing documentation
• Working directly with domestic and international vendors through the prototype and production cycle
• Coordinating prototype builds with in-house staff
• Solving design-to-manufacture problems across materials, including sheet metal, wire, wood products, and plastics
• Managing multiple projects with overlapping timelines

What we're looking for

• Candidates with an Industrial Design degree or similar
• 3–5+ years of engineering production-ready retail displays (prototypes through mass production)
• SolidWorks proficiency — current version, used daily, not just occasionally
• Familiarity with Adobe Creative Suite and Microsoft Office
• Hands-on knowledge of manufacturing processes: CNC routing, metal fab, plastic fab, 3D printing
• Material fluency across the retail display toolkit: metals, plastics, wood composites, wire
• The instinct to find a better way, and the discipline to document it properly

This role requires full-time on-site work at our Kennesaw, GA office.

Foreign language skills are not required for international vendor communication.
