Job Summary:
The Design Engineer will be responsible for designing and developing safety valves and related components to meet customer specifications and regulatory standards. The role includes creating engineering drawings, performing technical calculations, and ensuring compliance with IMS (Integrated Management System) standards such as ISO 9001, ISO 14001, and ISO 45001.
Key Responsibilities:
- Product Design & Development:
- Design new safety valves and modify existing designs based on customer needs and application requirements.
- Generate 2D/3D models, assembly drawings, and detailed part drawings using CAD software (e.g., SolidWorks, AutoCAD, Creo).
- Ensure designs meet industry codes such as ASME, API, and PED.
- Engineering Analysis & Calculations:
- Perform design calculations for pressure containment, flow characteristics, spring sizing, and stress analysis.
- Validate designs through simulation tools (FEA/CFD where applicable) and prototype testing.
- IMS & Compliance:
- Adhere to IMS procedures and documentation (ISO 9001 for quality, ISO 14001 for environmental, and ISO 45001 for health & safety).
- Participate in design FMEAs, risk assessments, and internal audits as per IMS framework.
- Ensure design traceability and compliance with regulatory and customer documentation requirements.
- Cross-functional Collaboration:
- Coordinate with production, QA/QC, procurement, and sales teams to ensure manufacturability, quality, and cost-effectiveness.
- Support product customization, root cause analysis for field issues, and continuous improvement initiatives.
- Documentation & Change Management:
- Maintain design files, BOMs, and revision control through PLM/ERP systems.
- Prepare and update technical documents including datasheets, calculation sheets, test reports, and user manuals.
- Testing & Validation Support:
- Support product testing and validation processes including hydro, leak, and functional testing.
- Work closely with the QA team during type testing, third-party inspections, and certifications.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or related field (Master’s preferred).
- 0 to 3 years of experience in valve or pressure equipment design.
- Proficient in CAD tools (SolidWorks, AutoCAD) and engineering analysis software.
- Strong knowledge of IMS (ISO 9001, 14001, 45001) and relevant industry codes (ASME Sec VIII, API 526/527).
- Familiarity with materials, casting processes, and machining tolerances in valve manufacturing.
