Design Engineer

Position: Mechanical Design Engineer 4

Location: on-site 5 days/week in Decatur, IL.

Primary Responsibilities:

Support manufacturing of large truck frames (up to 450T).

Basic knowledge of welding, stamping, and casting processes.

Ability to interpret analysis results and manage design changes for manufacturing.

Daily coordination with manufacturing engineers and communication on floor issues.

Skills & Requirements:

Mechanical or similar engineering background; automotive or aerospace acceptable.

Welding and manufacturing process knowledge preferred.

Strong communication and interpretation skills.

Experience:

5-8+ years with Master’s degree or 8-10+ years with Bachelor’s.

Top 3 Must have skills.

CAD modeling

Manufacturing, assembly and welding knowledge.

Ability to interpret analysis results and manage design changes for manufacturing.

Preferred domain

Work Split: Initially 40% office / 60% shop, may shift to 50/50.
