- Design roll-forming tools, dies, and components for new and existing projects.
- Develop CAD models, drawings, and specifications for roll-forming machines and parts.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to conceptualize and implement innovative product designs.
2. Process Innovation and Improvement:
- Research and develop advanced roll-forming techniques to enhance efficiency and reduce costs.
- Optimize roll-forming processes for material usage, energy consumption, and cycle times.
- Introduce automation or robotics into the roll-forming process when feasible.
3. Prototyping and Testing:
- Create prototypes to validate new product designs or process improvements.
- Conduct testing to evaluate the performance, durability, and functionality of new tools or products.
- Analyze test results to refine and finalize designs.
4. Technical Documentation:
- Prepare detailed engineering documentation, including blueprints, user manuals, and technical reports.
- Maintain records of design iterations, testing procedures, and process improvements.
5. Industry Research and Trends:
- Stay updated on the latest advancements in roll-forming technology, materials, and industry trends.
- Benchmark competitors and evaluate emerging technologies for potential integration.
6. Collaboration and Communication:
- Work closely with production teams to ensure smooth implementation of designs and processes.
- Liaise with clients to understand their requirements and customize designs accordingly.
- Provide technical support and guidance during the production phase.
7. Problem Solving and Troubleshooting:
- Identify and address technical issues in existing roll-forming systems.
- Develop solutions for operational challenges, including material deformation or machine wear.
8. Compliance and Standards:
- Ensure designs and processes adhere to industry standards and safety regulations.
- Implement quality control measures to maintain high standards in product output.
9. Cost Management:
- Evaluate design alternatives for cost-effectiveness without compromising quality.
- Assist in budgeting and resource allocation for R&D projects.
10. Continuous Learning and Development:
- Participate in training programs and workshops to enhance technical skills.
- Foster a culture of innovation within the R&D team.
Key Skills and Qualifications:
- Technical Expertise: Proficiency in CAD software, FEA (Finite Element Analysis), and roll-forming simulation tools, Solid works and Rhino
- A minimum of 1 year of experience as a mechanical design engineer.
- Problem-Solving: Strong analytical and troubleshooting skills.
- Communication: ability to convey technical information effectively to team members and stakeholders.
- Project Management: Experience managing projects from concept to production.
- Knowledge: Familiarity with materials science, mechanical engineering principles, and roll-forming equipment.
