Job Purpose:
To design and develop power module systems for data centers including LV/MV distribution, UPS systems, switchgear, transformers, generators, and associated infrastructure, ensuring compliance with project specifications, international standards, and client requirements.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Design & Engineering
- Develop detailed power module layouts and single-line diagrams (SLDs) for LV/MV systems.
- Design modular / containerized power units (prefabricated power skids, containerized switchgear & UPS modules).
- Conduct load calculations, short circuit analysis, and cable sizing using ETAP or similar software.
- Prepare schematics, GA drawings, wiring diagrams, and BOQs for modular power systems.
- Coordinate integration of UPS, PDU, STS, switchboards, transformers, and generators.
- Ensure proper redundancy design (N+1, N+2) per client requirements and Tier standards.
- HVAC consideration for power module like chilled water CRAH units CRAC Units selection
2. Compliance & Standards
- Design in accordance with Uptime Institute Tier Guidelines, ASHRAE, IEEE, IEC, DEWA, and UAE Civil Defence standards.
- Verify equipment meets manufacturer and project specifications for data center performance (efficiency, uptime, maintainability).
- Support FAT, SAT, and commissioning activities with vendors and clients.
3. Coordination
- Work closely with mechanical and civil teams to integrate MEP services into modular containers.
- Liaise with vendors for technical submittals, datasheets, and design clarifications.
- Coordinate with site teams to resolve design-related queries (RFI, site instructions).
4. Documentation & Review
- Prepare design reports, technical datasheets, and equipment schedules.
- Review vendor drawings and ensure design alignment.
- Maintain project document control and revision tracking.
Qualifications & Experience:
- Bachelor’s Degree in Electrical Engineering (or equivalent).
- 5–10 years experience in MEP or data center design, with at least 3 years focused on power systems / modular design.
- Strong understanding of LV/MV distribution, UPS, generators, earthing, and power control systems.
- Proficient in AutoCAD, Revit, ETAP, Dialux, and MS Office.
- Experience with prefabricated / modular power solutions preferred.
- Familiar with Uptime Institute Tier III / IV and TIA-942 data center standards.
Key Skills:
- Excellent knowledge of electrical load design and redundancy planning.
- Ability to interpret and produce technical drawings & schematics.
- Strong vendor coordination and documentation skills.
- Detail-oriented, with good understanding of data center reliability principles (N, N+1, 2N).
- Good communication and teamwork skills.
Preferred Certifications (Added Advantage):
- Uptime Institute Accredited Tier Designer (ATD)
- ETAP / AutoCAD Electrical certification
