Looking for key role in engineering projects, particularly in industries like Metal Industry, HVAC, piping, firefighting systems, manufacturing, construction, and oil & gas. The role involves both technical and commercial responsibilities, ensuring that mechanical systems are designed efficiently and estimated accurately for budgeting and bidding.


1. Design Responsibilities


Mechanical System Design:


o Develop detailed mechanical designs for systems such as Industrial Equipment, piping & utilities, HVAC, plumbing, fire protection, and manufacturing equipment.


o Ensure designs comply with international and local codes (e.g., ASHRAE, NFPA, IS codes).


· CAD Modeling & Drafting:


o Prepare 2D/3D drawings using AutoCAD, SolidWorks, Revit, or other CAD tools.


o Create layout drawings, schematics, isometrics, and detailed fabrication drawings.


· Design Calculations & System Sizing:


o Mechanical Processes and utilities


o Perform heat load calculations, pipe sizing, duct sizing, pump/fan selection, etc.


o Use tools like HAP, Carrier E20, or in-house spreadsheets for calculations.


· Coordination:


o Coordinate with architects, civil engineers, and electrical engineers to integrate mechanical systems.


o Participate in design review meetings and resolve interdisciplinary clashes.


· Compliance & Safety:


o Ensure systems meet applicable standards, energy efficiency requirements, and safety guidelines.


2. Estimation Responsibilities


· Quantity Take-off (QTO):


o Review drawings, BOQs, and specifications to extract material and labor quantities.

o Identify scope gaps and discrepancies in project documentation.


· Cost Estimation:


o Prepare cost estimates for materials, labor, subcontractors, and equipment.

o Use pricing databases, vendor quotes, and past project data to build accurate budgets.


· Bid Preparation:


o Prepare and submit technical and commercial proposals.

o Work with the sales or business development team to finalize bids and attend tender meetings.


· Vendor & Supplier Coordination:


o Obtain quotations for equipment and materials.

o Evaluate vendor offers based on technical and commercial terms.


· Value Engineering:


o Suggest cost-effective alternatives in design or materials without compromising quality.


3. Documentation & Reporting


· Prepare detailed technical submissions and compliance statements.

· Maintain records of design revisions, estimation logs, and vendor communications.

· Support project managers with budget updates and cost monitoring.


4. Software & Tools Knowledge


· Design Software: AutoCAD, Revit MEP, SolidWorks, HAP, Duct Sizer, Pipe Flow Expert Autodesk FEA, TEKLA

· 3D Modelling, PIPE DESIGN Software, Stress Analysis Software.

· Estimation Tools: MS Excel, Bluebeam, PlanSwift, Candy, or custom ERP tools

· Project Management Tools: MS Project, Primavera, or internal management systems
