About United Electrical Supplies Factory Co.

United Electrical Supplies Factory Co. (“United”) is a leading manufacturer based in Riyadh, specializing in low-voltage load centers / distribution boards and ventilation fans. The company offers high-quality products engineered for performance, safety, and reliability, backed by strong manufacturing, commissioning, maintenance, and training capabilities.

Job Purpose

As a Design & Estimator Engineer, you will provide specialized knowledge and leadership in designing, estimating, and developing low-voltage panels (load centers) and ventilation systems (fans, duct fans, exhaust fans). You will ensure compliance with technical standards, optimize designs for performance and cost, and support cross-functional teams through the product lifecycle.

Key Responsibilities

  • Design & Technical Review
  • Participate in Design, Production, and Quality Committees.
  • Review and approve material selections submitted to the Material Committee.
  • Ensure that design deliverables (drawings, BOMs, schematics) meet the company’s input requirements and align with final output.
  • Product Development
  • Work on localization and development of new products (load centers, ventilation fans) in collaboration with suppliers.
  • Identify and lead New Product Development (NPD), quality-improvement, and value-engineering projects.
  • Conduct feasibility studies, perform risk assessments, and build business cases for proposed products.
  • Cost Estimation & Documentation
  • Estimate project and product costs (materials, manufacturing, labor).
  • Prepare and maintain project charters, development plans, and timelines.
  • Develop and release detailed technical models and drawings for in-house manufacturing and external procurement.
  • Create, review, and approve BOMs; manage BOM release in Odoo ERP for production readiness.
  • Project Execution & Coordination
  • Lead project kick-off and release meetings with cross-functional teams (R&D, Production, Quality, Supply Chain).
  • Ensure all documentation (drawings, BOMs) is ready for production and that design changes are controlled.
  • Intellectual Property & Strategy
  • Perform IP research (patents, prior art) related to panel designs and ventilation products.
  • Propose and implement strategies to protect new design developments.
  • Team Leadership & Development
  • Mentor and train junior engineers / designers.
  • Delegate tasks effectively and ensure fair workload distribution.
  • Help build a collaborative, high-performing engineering team.
  • Delivery & Reporting
  • Execute development activities to meet scheduled milestones.
  • Optimize use of internal resources to deliver on time and within budget.
  • Provide regular progress reports, highlighting deviations and corrective actions.
  • Problem Solving & Continuous Improvement
  • Troubleshoot design, manufacturing, or performance issues.
  • Escalate complex technical challenges when needed.
  • Propose and implement process improvements; seek automation where possible.
  • Compliance & Quality
  • Ensure compliance with United’s policies, procedures, and work instructions.
  • Maintain design and documentation standards, including quality and safety requirements.

Required Qualifications & Experience

  • Education: Bachelor’s Degree in Electrical Engineering, Mechatronics, or a closely related field.
  • Experience: 3–5 years of relevant experience in:
  • Low-voltage panel / distribution board design
  • Ventilation or HVAC systems (fans, ductwork)
  • Engineering estimation, costing, and BOM preparation
  • Product development in a manufacturing environment
  • Technical Competencies:
  • Product design
  • Engineering research
  • Cost estimation & value engineering

Software Skills & Hands-On Experience

To succeed in this role, the candidate should have hands-on experience with:

  • AutoCAD / AutoCAD Electrical: for drawing layout of LV panels, single-line diagrams, and control schematics.
  • EPLAN Electric P8: for creating detailed panel wiring diagrams, terminal plans, and generating BOMs.
  • Revit MEP (or similar): for design and layout of ventilation systems, ducts, and fan assemblies (helpful if ventilation design is in-house).
  • Excel (Advanced): for cost estimation, BOQ (bill of quantities), cost analysis, and financial modeling.
  • Odoo ERP: for BOM release, material tracking, production readiness, and cost control.
  • SolidWorks / 3D CAD (optional but preferred): for 3D modeling of panel enclosures or fan housings, if United’s R&D or product development team uses 3D CAD.
  • Project management tools: such as MS Project or Jira / Asana (or similar) for planning and tracking development projects.

Personal Skills

  • Strong analytical and problem-solving ability
  • Excellent communication skills (Arabic and English preferred)
  • Leadership mindset: capable of mentoring engineers and working across teams
  • Good time management and ability to deliver under pressure
  • Detail-oriented with a commitment to quality and compliance
