The Duke Energy Nuclear Fleet Corporate Design Engineering (CDE) department is the Design Authority for each of Duke Energy’s six nuclear sites. CDE is responsible for the execution of a fleet portfolio that includes design solutions supporting risk reduction, equipment obsolescence, and plant modernization.
The Catawba (CNS) Nuclear Station Corporate Design I&C Engineering team manages the capital engineering change (EC) portfolio at the CNS nuclear site. The team collaborates with other CDE staff to ensure that high quality design solutions are delivered to meet site needs and milestone requirements.
Preferred Qualifications

Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering from an ABET accredited program.

Proficient in engineering theories and principles.

Proficient in principles of project management.

Experience in the utility industry.

State registration as a Professional Engineer.

Working level knowledge of nuclear industry cyber security control practices.

Experience with nuclear industry standard design process.
Special Requirements
-
In lieu of 1 year of nuclear experience, a selected candidate is subject to the oversight and written approval authority of a designated qualified individual until the selected candidate becomes fully qualified.

Able to achieve nuclear site Unescorted Access/Security clearance.

This position may be required to have Emergency Response Organization (ERO) responsibilities which could include callouts with a defined response time to the site and an on-call duty rotation requiring the employee to be Fit for Duty.

Required to wear personal protective equipment (hardhat, safety glasses, fall protection, etc.) as needed

Additional hours expected as workload/business need requires.

Occasional overnight travel.

Typically, an office environment with some work in the plant to conduct system walkdowns and field support of modification implementation
