Design Intern

2x4 is seeking an intern to join our Branding team for an April 1 or April 15 start date. The intern will support project teams by participating in all aspects of design and production, focusing on learning the studio’s methodology and software tools while developing foundational skills in graphic design.

This is a 12-week, paid, full-time internship, working in-person at our studio in New York City. Applicants should be in the New York area for the duration of the internship.

Responsibilities:

• Studio participation: Contributes to a positive culture in the Branding group and in the studio more broadly, participating in group critique and conversation, and joining studio gatherings
• Creative: Explores creative solutions to a range of briefs under direction from senior team members; works with dexterity across disciplines and techniques as required by projects; demonstrates ability to develop new skills on the job
• Technical execution: Delivers work on time and with close attention to detail; under supervision from more senior team members, contributes to production of presentations and design documentation; facilitates prototypes and full scale mock-ups
• Group + project team responsibilities: Learns and carries out studio processes, becoming familiar with studio methodologies, tools, and practices; takes initiative to support group and project needs; delivers work on time and with attention to detail
• Collaboration: Engages in projects within the Branding group, and as a member of cross-disciplinary project teams
• Client engagement: Observes client meetings as appropriate

Qualifications:

• Degrees: Currently pursuing a BA or MFA, or a recent graduate in visual design or a related field
• Technical skills: Familiarity with design software like Figma, After Effects, Illustrator, Photoshop, and InDesign, and productivity software like Gmail, Google Docs, and Google Slides required
• Communication skills: Proficient written and spoken English-language skills; able to participate in design discussions, including fluency with technical terminology related to design and typography
