Job Position: Design Manager
Location: Chicago, IL
RESPONSIBILITIES
· Perform and direct project designs and calculations for project segments, including consideration of construction sequences, techniques, material selection, and applicable codes.
· Read and interpret computer printouts and utilize discipline-specific design software effectively.
· Oversee and direct construction cost estimates, including quantity takeoffs and identifying unit prices for individual cost items.
· Direct and prepare specifications and bid documents; assist with preparation of complex specifications and bid documents.
· Direct the collection and assembly of complex project data.
· Conduct project site observations, including existing conditions, design, and construction oversight as required.
· Direct and perform project documentation and basic drawing reviews.
· Assist with communication with internal and external stakeholders to transmit or obtain project information.
· Utilize computer programs to produce spreadsheets, text files, and other project documentation.
· Perform other duties as required.
ADMINISTRATION & FINANCE
· Work as a member of a project group; act as a group leader for basic tasks.
· Lead complex tasks, coordinate project groups, and manage single-purpose projects.
· Oversee basic and direct complex project budgeting.
· Monitor project budget hours and make adjustments in accordance with company procedures.
MARKETING
· Work with supervisor to maintain strong customer relations.
· Report leads obtained from personal observations, media, conversations, or other sources.
· Follow up on qualifying leads as directed.
· Contribute suggestions for business development and assist with proposal and marketing efforts as requested.
EDUCATION AND SKILLS
· Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering or related field.
· 15+ years of relevant experience.
· Professional Engineer (PE) License in Illinois required.

· Competitive base salary: $135,000 - $175,000 annually (exact starting compensation based on experience, credentials, and skill set).
