Design Project Manager

Job Overview
We are looking for a detail-oriented and client-focused Design Project Manager to be apart of our commercial construction design company. This team member will have a key role from pre-sales through permit and turnover to operations. This role sits at the intersection of design coordination, client communication, and project scheduling — making it ideal for someone who thrives in a fast-moving environment and can manage multiple projects.

Responsibilities:

  • Own the full design project schedule — from feasibility and test fits through permit submittal and handoff to the operations team
  • Serve as the primary point of contact for clients, documenting all decisions and managing expectations around timelines and permitting complexity
  • Coordinate with civil, MEP, structural, and interior design consultants; issue notices to proceed; track deliverables; and confirm milestone dates
  • Manage Revit modeling and drafting — either directly, through internal staff, or via outsourced subcontractors
  • Review construction document sets against budget, design intent, and the CD checklist before submittal
  • Navigate the permitting process — preparing plan sets, coordinating with permit expediters, and responding to county and city comments
  • Support the estimating team with special-order items, value engineering, and budget alignment
  • Maintain organized server files and ensure the correct plan sets are in use at every project stage
  • Track billing milestones and maintain the billing trigger structure for every project you manage

What we're looking for

  • Experience in commercial construction design coordination, architecture, or a related field
  • Proficiency with Revit; familiarity with civil, MEP, and structural drawing sets
  • Strong written communication skills — you document decisions, dependencies, and schedule changes in writing as a habit
  • Demonstrated ability to manage multiple consultants and subcontractors across concurrent projects
  • Working knowledge of local permitting processes and the ability to communicate timelines clearly to clients and leadership
  • A proactive, organized approach to tracking open deliverables and keeping projects moving
