Design & Technical Manager

The Design & Technical Manager is responsible for leading and managing all design and technical activities across new and ongoing projects. The role ensures that all drawings, 3D models, and technical submissions comply with contractual requirements, client expectations, UAE authority regulations, and project timelines, while providing strong technical leadership to the design and drafting team.

Key Responsibilities

1. Design Leadership & Project Oversight

• Oversee all new and ongoing projects from design initiation through construction and handover.
• Ensure design deliverables, including 2D drawings, 3D models, and technical details, align with project scope, client requirements, budgets, and schedules.
• Coordinate closely with Project Managers, Site Teams, QS, and Procurement to ensure designs are practical, buildable, and cost-effective.

2. Team Management & Task Allocation

• Assign and designate tasks to designers, draftsmen, and 3D visualizers based on project priorities and workload.
• Monitor productivity, quality of outputs, and adherence to timelines.
• Provide continuous assistance, guidance, and technical direction to the design and drafting team.

3. Design Coordination & Technical Guidance

• Provide clear technical direction and detailed clarifications on drawings, specifications, BOQs, and 3D visuals.
• Identify and resolve design clashes, discrepancies, and constructability issues.
• Coordinate with MEP, structural, and specialist disciplines to ensure coordinated and conflict-free designs.

4. Drawing, 3D & Technical Review

• Review, check, and approve all design drawings, shop drawings, 3D models, renderings, and technical details prior to submission to:
• Clients
• Landlords / Developers
• Authorities
• Third-party consultants
• Ensure submissions comply with approved concepts, materials, and contractual requirements.

5. Authority & Regulatory Compliance

• Ensure all design and technical submissions comply with UAE authority regulations and approval processes.
• Coordinate authority submission packages, respond to comments, and manage revisions and resubmissions.

6. Client & Stakeholder Engagement

• Attend client meetings, design coordination meetings, and project kick-off meetings.
• Represent the company on all design and technical matters.
• Present design concepts, 3D visuals, and technical clarifications to clients and consultants as required.

7. Technical Documentation & Standards

• Establish and maintain company design standards, drawing formats, and documentation control systems.
• Ensure proper drawing registers, revision tracking, and documentation accuracy across all projects.

8. Value Engineering & Technical Problem Solving

• Propose value engineering and alternative technical/design solutions without compromising quality, safety, or compliance.
• Support project teams in resolving site-related technical and design issues.

9. Quality, Safety & Compliance

• Ensure all designs comply with QA/QC standards, safety regulations, and company policies.
• Assist in resolving RFIs, NCRs, and design-related site coordination issues.

10. Continuous Improvement

• Review and improve internal design workflows, coordination procedures, and software utilization.
• Stay updated with UAE codes, authority requirements, materials, systems, and industry best practices.

Qualifications & Experience

• Bachelor’s Degree in Civil Engineering or Architecture.
• Female designer preferred.
• 6–8 years of UAE experience in design management within interior fit-out or construction projects.
• Strong working knowledge of UAE authority approvals, landlord guidelines, and construction practices.

Software & Technical Skills

• Proficient in AutoCAD, 3ds Max, SketchUp, and other relevant design software.
• Working knowledge of BIM/Revit is a strong advantage.
• Ability to review and coordinate 2D drawings, 3D models, and technical documentation.
