Position Summary
The Designer develops and designs home fashion products for both licensed and private label brands under the J. Queen New York portfolio. This role requires a strong background in home product development, an understanding of brand identity, and the ability to translate trend and market research into successful commercial designs. The Designer works closely with internal teams and external partners to bring high-quality, brand-right products to market.
Key Responsibilities
- Design and develop home product collections, including bedding, decorative pillows, window treatments, and accessories.
- Collaborate with the Design Team and merchandising teams to align creative direction with brand strategy and business goals.
- Develop artwork, patterns, and color stories that reflect each brand’s aesthetic and market position.
- Research trends, materials, and construction techniques to inform seasonal concepts.
- Prepare detailed design specifications, presentation boards, and product layouts for review.
- Communicate with overseas vendors and factories to ensure accurate execution of designs.
- Review samples, approve strike-offs, and provide design direction throughout the product development cycle.
- Manage multiple projects simultaneously while meeting timelines and seasonal deadlines.
- Support sales presentations and contribute to line reviews as needed.
Minimum Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Textile Design, Industrial Design, Fine Arts, or a related field.
- At least 8 years of professional experience in home product design and development.
- Proven experience working with licensed brands and private label programs.
- Strong understanding of textile construction, fabrication, and product manufacturing processes.
- Proficiency in Adobe Creative Suite (Illustrator, Photoshop) and Microsoft Office.
- Excellent sense of color, pattern, and composition.
- Strong communication, organization, and time management skills.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience designing across multiple home categories such as bedding, bath, and decorative accessories.
- Knowledge of market trends, retail assortments, and consumer preferences within the home industry.
- Experience managing product development from concept through production.
- Ability to collaborate across departments, including product development, merchandising, and sourcing.
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $65,000.00 - $90,000.00 per year
