San Diego Hat Company is an international wholesaler that designs and distributes a wide variety of high quality products to specialty retail chains and department stores

San Diego Hat Company is searching for a Designer to join our creative team. The qualified candidate will work with the team to execute headwear for women, men and kids. The Designer will participate in the development process from initial concepts to development inception through Pre-Production approval.

San Diego Hat Company is an established brand with a 30+ year history. The company culture is one of a small company trying to do big things, very entrepreneurial. There are not a lot of layers. We have a collaborative, creative, fast paced work environment.

Job Responsibilities:

· Research, Design and Develop multi-seasonal, multi-product lines for key account customers based on customer requests.

· Ensure timely completion of product lines in accordance with customer development calendar each season.

· Collaborate with Sales Managers and Design Director on conceptualizing, designing and executing special programs.

· Translate headwear design concepts through technical drawings, sketches and line sheets.

· Create tech packs with detailed specifications that include measurements/construction details, target costs, shipping/testing requirements and trim/fabric information.

· Daily communication with factories as their primary contact on development and to ensure products execute correctly, hit targeted price and margin goals.

· Manage and prep samples for customers and sales meetings.

· Regular store visits to key accounts and competition to assure knowledge of the market.

· Travel as needed for sales meetings with Key Account Managers.

Qualifications:

· Degree in Fashion Industry Field

· Proficiency in Adobe Creative Suite (Illustrator, Photoshop, InDesign)

· 5+ years experience in accessories or product design, ideally in fashion.

· Ability to travel domestically as needed

· Hands on, start to finish design, development and production experience.

· Understanding of key retail metrics and key merchandising requirements.

· Effectively able to present product lines both internally and externally in a professional and brand appropriate manner.

· Ability to independently, strong attention to detail and manage multiple projects simultaneously.
