Designer I
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Create detailed mechanical designs and support job estimates under the supervision of Mechanical Engineers.
- Prepare CAD drawings and project documentation using SolidWorks & AutoCAD.
- Provide design support to Mechanical Engineers and project technical leads.
- Complete assigned work within timelines and budgets with a high level of quality.
- Coordinate changes to existing designs.
- Develop and maintain an acceptable level of expertise in SEL and industry mechanical design practices.
- Assist and mentor drafters with technical tasks.
-Under moderate technical supervision, apply appropriate Design for -Manufacturability and Assembly (DFMA) principles, material selection, and manufacturing technologies to design projects.
- Develop and maintain mechanical design knowledge relevant to SEL products.
- Use best available processes and tools and provide feedback on process enhancements.
-Follow and apply SEL Values, Principles of Operations, and World Class -Manufacturing Principles.

- Other duties as assigned.
Required Qualifications
Associates degree in ME, CAD, Drafting or relevant discipline; or possess equivalent experience for each academic year.
Ability to learn concepts and technical details of products
Ability to work with a moderate level of technical supervision, accepting ownership of assigned responsibilities
Demonstrated competency in 2D and 3D CAD drafting (SolidWorks & AutoCAD).
Willing to travel as needed
Strong writing, documentation, and speaking skills.
Ability to learn new skills and assume new responsibilities.
Ability to work cooperatively in a team environment.
Background check results satisfactory to SEL.
Negative drug test result(s).
Preferred Qualifications
Possess a BSME, BSET, Engineering Tech/CAD Tech or related design degree from an accredited college or university
Experience with SolidWorks, AutoCAD or 2D/3D CAD Software.
Experience participating on project teams
Experience with sheet‑metal, weldments, machining, and mechanical assembly.
Familiarity with environmental and enclosure norms (UL 50E, IEC 60529, NEMA 250) is a plus but not required.

Pay Range Data
We base our starting pay offer on location and job-related factors such as candidate experience, training, knowledge, and skills. Pay range for position is $32.88-$48.60 per hour. Our pay ranges are determined by job, responsibility, and location.
