Deskside Support Technician (Level 2) – Automotive Manufacturing

Location: Vance, AL
Schedule: On-site

About the Role

We are seeking a Deskside Support Technician (Level 2) to provide hands-on IT support within a large automotive manufacturing environment. This is not a typical office support role-you'll be directly supporting systems and users that keep production running on the plant floor.

If you enjoy troubleshooting in fast-paced environments and want exposure to enterprise-level infrastructure, this is a great opportunity to grow your IT career.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide deskside support for desktops, laptops, mobile devices, and peripherals
  • Troubleshoot hardware, software, and network connectivity issues
  • Support production-critical systems including shop-floor workstations, RF scanners, and printers
  • Deploy and image Windows 10/11 devices using tools such as SCCM, MDT, or Autopilot
  • Support Microsoft 365, Active Directory, Azure AD (Entra ID), and Group Policy
  • Configure and troubleshoot network printers and TCP/IP connectivity
  • Provide support for AV and video conferencing systems
  • Respond to high-priority incidents impacting production operations
  • Document all work in ticketing systems (ServiceNow or similar) and meet SLA requirements
  • Assist with asset management including provisioning, deployment, and decommissioning

Work Environment

  • Combination of office and manufacturing/plant floor support
  • Exposure to industrial environments (noise, machinery, varying temperatures)
  • Required use of PPE (steel-toe boots, safety glasses, etc.)
  • Walking and standing for extended periods across a large facility

Required Qualifications

  • 3+ years of deskside or desktop support experience in an enterprise environment
  • Strong knowledge of Windows 10/11 troubleshooting and deployment
  • Experience with Active Directory (user management, group policy, etc.)
  • Familiarity with imaging tools (SCCM, MDT, Intune, or similar)
  • Basic networking knowledge (TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP, VPN)
  • Experience supporting Microsoft 365 (Outlook, Teams, OneDrive, SharePoint)
  • Strong communication and customer service skills
  • Ability to lift up to 50 lbs and work in a physically active environment

Preferred Qualifications

  • CompTIA A+, Network+, or Microsoft certifications
  • ITIL knowledge or certification
  • Experience with Intune/Endpoint Manager and Autopilot
  • Previous experience in manufacturing or industrial IT environments
  • Familiarity with barcode scanners, label printers, or rugged devices
