Job Summary
The Detailer Technician is responsible for the final detailing, finishing, and protective care of Palm Beach Towers, both in the shop and on fully installed towers aboard yachts. This role includes cleaning, buffing, and polishing boat interiors and exteriors to ensure they meet delivery standards. Working with minimal supervision, the technician must demonstrate exceptional attention to detail, craftsmanship, and care, as these towers are high-value components that require precise handling to prevent damage.

This position regularly involves working at elevated heights while detailing towers already installed on vessels. The Detailer must be comfortable working above deck, maintaining safety while delivering high-quality finishing work. The ideal candidate is hands-on, reliable, and able to work independently after initial training.

Duties & Responsibilities

Detailing & Finishing

  • Perform detailed cleaning, polishing, buffing, and finishing of towers to achieve a high-quality appearance.
  • Remove residue, marks, and surface imperfections prior to final wrapping or customer delivery.
  • Ensure all surfaces meet Palm Beach Towers quality and presentation standards.
  • On-Vessel Detailing (Elevated Work)
  • Perform detailing work on towers already installed on yachts, often at elevated heights.
  • Safely access and work on towers using ladders, platforms, or onboard structures.
  • Maintain balance, awareness, and control while working above deck.
  • Follow established processes, checklists, and detailing procedures to ensure consistency and quality.

Surface Prep & Protection

  • Apply caulking around welds, joints, and connection points as required.
  • Assist with minor touch-up work, including paint and finish corrections.
  • Always protect all tower surfaces to prevent scratches or damage.
  • Handle towers with extreme care, recognizing their high value and impact of damage.
  • Understanding of various cleaning agents for use on specific boat parts.
  • Uses experience and professional judgment to recognize items requiring repair and communicates findings to qualified personnel.
  • Uses appropriate cleaning agents, applicators, and tools, including cloths and brushes, to treat surfaces and remove dust, dirt, grease, and grime. May apply specialized cleaning products to eliminate foreign materials that do not respond to standard cleaning methods, using professional judgment and following manufacturer recommendations.

Assembly & Support Tasks

  • Assist with pulling wire and supporting basic installation preparation.
  • Support other departments as needed to meet production and delivery timelines.
  • Assist with moving towers and materials between boats, work areas, and warehouse locations.
  • May have heavy contact with customers, requiring diplomacy and pleasant attitude.

Safety, Quality & Accountability

  • Follow all company safety procedures, especially when working at heights.
  • Maintain a clean, safe, and organized work area always.
  • Take pride in workmanship and ensure all work meets company standards.
  • Work independently and remain productive with minimal supervision after training.
  • Complete work efficiently to meet production schedules and delivery deadlines.

Work Schedule

Standard Schedule: Monday - Thursday (6:30a – 5p)

Overtime: As needed based on production and delivery timelines

Requirements for the Position

  • Strong attention to detail and pride in high-quality workmanship.
  • Ability to work comfortably at heights (no fear of heights required).
  • Ability to work with hands and perform precision detailing tasks.
  • Ability to work independently and be reliable with minimal supervision.
  • Strong work ethic and accountability.

Qualifications

Preferred

  • Experience in detailing, polishing, finishing, or similar hands-on work.
  • Experience in marine, metal finishing, or fabrication environments.
  • Experience with buffing, polishing, caulking, or surface preparation.
  • Bilingual Spanish/English (a plus).

Physical Demands & Work Environment

  • Regular lifting and carrying of materials up to 50 lbs.
  • Frequent standing, walking, bending, stooping, kneeling, and reaching.
  • Recurring work at elevated heights on installed towers.
  • Work performed both indoors and outdoors, including on vessels.
  • Exposure to dust, noise, weather conditions, and marine environments.
