DEVELOPMENT CHEF

Job Summary

The Development Chef is responsible for creating, testing, and refining new recipes and menu concepts aligned with the company’s brand, market trends, and business objectives. This role bridges culinary creativity with commercial strategy, ensuring menu innovation, cost control, and operational feasibility.

Key Responsibilities

• Develop innovative menu items, seasonal offerings, and special promotions
• Conduct recipe testing, standardization, and documentation
• Ensure all new dishes meet company quality standards and brand identity
• Perform cost analysis and maintain target food cost percentages
• Source and evaluate new ingredients, suppliers, and products
• Monitor market trends and competitor activity
• Collaborate with Operations, Marketing, and Procurement teams
• Train kitchen staff on new menu items and preparation techniques
• Ensure compliance with food safety and hygiene standards
• Support menu engineering and profitability optimization

Qualifications & Requirements

• Proven experience as a Development Chef, Sous Chef, or Senior Chef
• Strong knowledge of menu engineering and food cost control
• Creative mindset with strong attention to detail
• Excellent understanding of kitchen operations and workflow
• Strong organizational and documentation skills
• Ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines
• Culinary degree or professional certification preferred
