Development Specialist-FULL TIME

Location: Remote / Corporate Office
Reports To: Development Director

About the Position

The Development Specialist plays a key role in advancing affordable multi‑family housing projects that strengthen communities. This position manages projects from site acquisition and financial modeling through construction and stabilization, coordinating complex financing and ensuring compliance with federal and state housing regulations.

The ideal candidate is detail‑oriented, financially savvy, and passionate about affordable housing and community development.

Key Responsibilities

· Assist with construction budget and draw process

· Basic application packaging

· Creating Deal Books

· Filing

· Identify potential sites and conduct feasibility studies

· Manage Zoning process

· Monitor construction budgets

· Other Duties as Assigned

· Package close out reports to regulating agencies

· Project Management: Lead development from site acquisition and feasibility to construction completion and project stabilization

· Responsible for reading and interpreting the allocation plans, RFPs and underwriting guidelines for the States that NDS does business.

· Secure funding

Site Acquisition:

· Structure deals using applicable funding source and gap financing.

· Work with development team

Required Qualifications

  • Strong proficiency in Excel
  • Ability to manage multiple projects with attention to detail
  • Strong communication and relationship‑building skills
  • Ability to travel as needed
  • Valid driver’s license

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience in affordable housing development or finance
  • Knowledge of LIHTC, HUD, HOME, and USDA Rural Development programs
  • Financial underwriting and budgeting experience
  • Strong negotiation and public presentation skills

Pay: $45,000.00 - $60,000.00 per year
