Dewatering Technician

Ghana

About This Role

The role will be accountable for maintaining, installing, servicing all dewatering pumps, water systems and other engineering task, through the application of operational policies, standards, processes and procedures to maximize plant availability in a sustainable cost-effective manner and minimize operational risks in order to meet the business' strategic objective.

Key Responsibilities

  • Perform HDPE pipe welding for repairs, new installations, and pipeline modifications.
  • Install, maintain, and remove dewatering infrastructure, including sumps, trenches, pipes, and pumps.
  • Conduct mechanical works including installation of pipe work, tanks, valves, flow meters
  • Inspect daily water dams and sumps.
  • Carry out minor maintenance of infrastructure assets
  • Carry out mechanical repairs, servicing or modifications to equipment in such a way as to maximise machine mechanical availability and increase operating efficiency.
  • Carry out preventative maintenance of underground/open pit dewatering system.
  • Carry out fault-finding, diagnosis and repair of damaged pumps, and all dewatering infrastructure.
  • Maintain ancillary equipment.

Education, Work Experience & Key Competencies

  • A minimum of Mechanical Engineering Technician Part II (MET II) or equivalent
  • Must possess a valid Ghanaian driving and operating licenses (C & E Classes).
  • Good engineering background with a minimum of two (2) years working experience in pumps
  • Experienced in pump maintenance, installation, and shaft alignment
  • Good knowledge in water reticulation systems and the use of PRV's
  • Problem solving and decision-making skills
  • Dynamic knowledge and understanding of process plant operating & metallurgical practices.
  • Excellent verbal and written English communication skills.
  • Good Technical report writing skills.
  • Demonstrate ability to initiate new ideas to improve plant efficiency.
  • Strong commitment to timelines, accuracy and professionalism.
  • Proven reporting and communication skills.
  • Critical thinking, decision making and problem-solving skills.
