Job Summary
The Pharmacist is responsible for dispensing medications accurately, ensuring safe and effective pharmaceutical care, and complying with Dubai Health Authority (DHA) regulations. The role involves patient counseling, medication management, and collaboration with healthcare professionals to optimize patient outcomes.
Key Responsibilities
- Dispense prescription and over-the-counter medications accurately and in compliance with DHA regulations
- Review prescriptions for appropriateness, dosage, interactions, and contraindications
- Provide patient counseling on medication use, side effects, storage, and adherence
- Ensure proper labeling, packaging, and documentation of medications
- Maintain accurate patient medication records and pharmacy documentation
- Monitor drug inventory, storage conditions, and expiry dates
- Ensure compliance with DHA, MOHAP, and internal pharmacy policies
- Collaborate with physicians and other healthcare professionals regarding patient therapy
- Handle controlled medications according to legal and regulatory requirements
- Participate in health awareness programs and patient education initiatives
- Maintain cleanliness, safety, and organization of the pharmacy
- Report medication errors or adverse drug reactions as per protocol
Qualifications & Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Pharmacy (BPharm or PharmD)
- Valid DHA Pharmacist License (or eligibility to obtain one)
- Proven experience as a pharmacist (hospital, clinic, or community pharmacy)
- Strong knowledge of pharmaceuticals, drug interactions, and UAE healthcare regulations
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- Attention to detail and strong organizational skills
- Ability to work independently and as part of a healthcare team
- Proficiency in pharmacy management systems and basic computer applications
Preferred Skills
- Experience in UAE healthcare settings
- Multilingual skills (Arabic is an advantage)
- Customer-focused attitude with strong ethical standards
Work Environment
- Hospitals, clinics, medical centers, or community pharmacies
- May include shift work, weekends, or public holidays depending on facility
