Job Summary
We are seeking a highly skilled and motivated Diesel Engine Technician to join our dynamic maintenance team. In this role, you will be responsible for diagnosing, repairing, and maintaining diesel engines and heavy equipment to ensure optimal performance and safety. Your expertise will contribute to the smooth operation of a wide range of machinery, including farm equipment, industrial machinery, and heavy-duty vehicles. Responsibilities
- Perform detailed diagnostics and repairs on diesel engines, including troubleshooting electrical, mechanical, and hydraulic systems.
- Conduct routine maintenance tasks such as oil changes, filter replacements, and system inspections to prevent future issues.
- Repair and replace components such as transmissions, shocks & struts, brakes, suspensions, and air brake systems.
- Use schematics and technical manuals to accurately identify issues and execute repairs efficiently.
- Operate heavy equipment like excavators, cranes, forklifts, and tractor-trailers safely during maintenance procedures.
- Fabricate parts or modify existing components using hand tools, power tools, welding, or soldering techniques when necessary.
- Maintain detailed service records, complete inspection reports, and document repair procedures for accountability.
- Assist with equipment assembly and perform preventive maintenance to maximize operational uptime.
- Support customer service efforts by explaining repairs clearly and ensuring satisfaction with the work performed.
Experience
- Proven dealership experience or extensive background working on heavy equipment such as excavators, cranes, or farm machinery.
- Hands-on experience with automotive diagnostics and automotive repair techniques.
- Strong mechanical knowledge of transmissions, hydraulics, HVAC systems, suspension components, and electrical systems.
- Skilled in the use of hand tools, power tools, welding equipment, and other maintenance tools.
- Experience operating heavy machinery including forklifts and tractor-trailers is highly desirable.
- Familiarity with schematics for complex machinery systems and ability to interpret technical manuals accurately.
- Demonstrated ability to perform heavy lifting safely while maintaining attention to detail during repairs.
- Excellent customer service skills combined with a strong work ethic in a service technician environment.
