Diesel Generator Operation & Maintenance Technician

We are seeking a skilled and experienced Diesel Generator Operation & Maintenance Technician to oversee the operation, preventive maintenance, troubleshooting, and repair of diesel generators. The ideal candidate will have hands-on experience with industrial and commercial generator systems and be capable of ensuring maximum equipment reliability and uptime.

Qualifications

Diploma or Technical Certification in Mechanical Technology, Electrical Technology, Electromechanical Technology, Diesel Engine Technology or any Related Technical Field

Experience

Minimum 3–5 years of relevant experience in diesel generator operation, maintenance, and troubleshooting. Experience with generators from leading brands such as **Cummins, Perkins, Caterpillar, FG Wilson, Volvo Penta, or similar** will be preferred.

Key Responsibilities

  • Operate and monitor diesel generators to ensure uninterrupted power supply.
  • Perform routine inspections and preventive maintenance activities as per maintenance schedules.
  • Diagnose and repair mechanical, electrical, and control system faults.
  • Monitor fuel consumption, lubrication systems, cooling systems, and battery performance.
  • Conduct generator testing, load testing, and performance evaluations.
  • Maintain generator logs, maintenance records, and service reports.
  • Troubleshoot emergency breakdowns and implement corrective actions promptly.
  • Coordinate with vendors and service providers for major repairs and spare parts procurement.
  • Ensure compliance with safety standards and operational procedures.
  • Monitor equipment performance and recommend improvements to enhance reliability and efficiency.
  • Maintain cleanliness and proper housekeeping of generator rooms and related equipment.

Requirements

  • Strong knowledge of diesel engines, alternators, control panels, and power generation systems.
  • Ability to read and interpret electrical and mechanical drawings.
  • Experience in troubleshooting generator control systems and protection devices.
  • Familiarity with preventive and predictive maintenance practices.
  • Understanding of workplace safety and electrical safety standards.
  • Good problem-solving and technical diagnostic skills.
  • Ability to work independently and respond to emergency breakdowns when required.

Preferred Skills

  • Experience with Automatic Transfer Switches (ATS) and synchronization systems.
  • Knowledge of PLC-based generator controls and monitoring systems.
  • Hands-on experience with industrial and manufacturing facilities.
