Job Overview
We are seeking a highly skilled and motivated Diesel Mechanic to join our dynamic team. In this role, you will be responsible for diagnosing, repairing, and maintaining a wide range of heavy-duty diesel-powered equipment and vehicles. Your expertise will ensure optimal performance, safety, and reliability of machinery used across various industries, including transportation, construction, and agriculture. Duties
- Perform detailed diagnostics on diesel engines, transmissions, hydraulics, suspension systems, and air brake systems using OEM (Original Equipment Manufacturer) schematics and automotive diagnostics tools.
- Conduct repairs and maintenance on heavy equipment such as excavators, cranes, forklifts, tractors, and farm machinery to ensure they operate efficiently and safely.
- Fabricate parts or components as needed using power tools, welding equipment, and hand tools to meet specific repair requirements.
- Replace or repair vehicle components including brakes, tires, transmissions, electrical systems, HVAC units, and steering mechanisms.
- Use heavy lifting techniques and equipment safely during assembly, disassembly, or repair processes while adhering to safety protocols.
- Perform routine inspections and preventative maintenance on industrial equipment to minimize downtime and extend service life.
- Maintain accurate service records, complete detailed reports on repairs performed, and follow manufacturer guidelines for all maintenance procedures.
- Assist in troubleshooting electrical issues involving wiring harnesses, soldering connections, and sensor systems on various machinery.
- Support customer service efforts by providing clear communication about repair timelines and maintenance needs.
Qualifications
- Proven mechanic experience with a focus on diesel engines and heavy equipment repair in a dealership or industrial setting.
- Strong mechanical knowledge of transmissions, hydraulics, suspension systems, air brakes, HVAC systems, and electrical components.
- Experience reading schematics and using OEM manuals for diagnostics and repairs.
- Skilled in fabrication techniques including welding and metalworking; familiar with power tools and hand tools for assembly or repair tasks.
- Ability to operate heavy equipment such as excavators or forklifts safely when required for repairs or inspections.
- Knowledge of automotive diagnostics software and electrical troubleshooting methods.
- Excellent customer service skills with the ability to communicate technical information clearly.
- Physical ability to perform heavy lifting tasks regularly while maintaining safety standards.
- Certifications related to diesel engine repair, brake systems (air brake certification), welding licenses or certifications are preferred but not mandatory. Pay: $30.00 - $30.27 per hour
