JOB SUMMARY
The Plant Maintenance Technician is responsible for ensuring the reliability, safety, and efficiency of plant equipment and systems. This role involves performing preventive maintenance, troubleshooting mechanical and electrical issues, and supporting continuous improvement initiatives; maintenance work including but not limited to stationary and mechanical systems such as conveyors, shakers, pumps, and gearboxes, as well as general facility maintenance involving electrical, plumbing, and basic structural systems. As Plant Maintenance, you may perform various roles, including fabrication, welding, cutting and/or grinding, greasing, housekeeping, and other shop or processing duties. The Technician plays a critical role in minimizing downtime and maintaining optimal production performance.
KEY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Performs scheduled maintenance on crushers, conveyors, screens, pumps, motors, and other plant equipment.

Inspect, diagnose, and repair mechanical, hydraulic, and electrical systems to prevent breakdowns.

Maximizes performance of stationary equipment by performing repairs and ensuring preventative maintenance is completed on a timely basis.

Responsible for ensuring the backlog process is completed and prioritized with the Supervisor and/or Plant Manager

Responds promptly to equipment failures and production interruptions.

Assists with cutting, welding, and fabrication tasks for plant components and structural repairs.

Performs fabrication, erection, and repair of processing and mobile equipment.

Completes required paperwork to maintain equipment and to run the plant according to Martin Marietta standards

Adheres to MSHA/OSHA safety standards and company policies.

Conducts pre-shift inspections and ensure proper lockout/tagout procedures during maintenance activities.

Prioritizes SAFETY, then QUALITY, followed by Production

Ensures preventative maintenance services and lubrication services are completed according to the Maintenance Module.

Operates cranes, man-lifts, welding and cutting tools, and other specialty equipment as needed.

Trains and coaches other employees on maintenance practices.

Maintains accurate records of maintenance activities, parts usage, and equipment condition.

Communicates effectively with supervisors and operations teams regarding equipment status and repair needs.
QUALIFICATIONS
Education
High School Diploma, GED, or equivalent experience related to the description
Work Experience
3+ years of experience related to heavy-duty maintenance jobs or equivalent combination of training and experience, preferably in the aggregates industry
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
Equipment analysis and general repair concepts
OSHA and MSHA regulations

Physical Requirements
You must be able to regularly lift, carry, push, and pull weights between 50 and 75 lbs.
The job requires climbing ladders, stairs, and catwalks to perform maintenance on shakers, conveyors, and silos. You may work at heights ranging from 60 to 90 feet.
Continuous standing, walking on uneven/rocky ground, kneeling, stooping, and crawling into cramped quarters or confined spaces is required daily.
High manual dexterity is needed for welding, fabrication, and using a variety of heavy hand and power tools.
Travel
On-site.
Must be available for on-call emergencies or breakdown.
Working Conditions
All duties require outside assignments and require periods of work in all weather conditions, cold, wet, dry and dusty. Must be able to work in areas where noise levels are up to 85 dbs.
Plant Maintenance Technicians are required to provide their own hand tools.
