Job Summary
We are seeking a highly skilled and motivated Diesel Mechanic to join our busy shop team. In this role, you will be responsible for diagnosing, repairing, and maintaining a wide range of heavy-duty diesel equipment, including trucks, construction machinery, and industrial vehicles. Your expertise will ensure that all equipment operates efficiently, safely, and reliably, supporting our operations and customer service commitments. Essential Functions
- Performs preventive maintenance inspections and service on machines.
- Thoroughly cleans machines and machine parts, removing parts and reinstalling as necessary.
- Oils and lubricates moving parts on machines to ensure effective performance.
- Records and reports damaged, worn, or broken parts.
- Orders and installs replacement parts for machines.
- Identifies and assists with finding the causes of unexpected breakdowns of machines.
- Repairs broken machines quickly and efficiently.
- Prepares reports documenting work performed.
- Cleans, organizes, inventories, stocks, and otherwise maintains shop areas, parts, tools, and supplies.
- Makes necessary modifications and implements tests runs; confers with lead mechanic regarding test results and makes additional alterations to machinery as required.
- Performs other related duties as assigned.
Preferred Education, Experience, and Skills
- Knowledge of diesel and fuel engine maintenance and proper use of equipment for repairs
- Class A CDL required with acceptable driving record and maintain proper records for license
- Proficient with computer diagnostic equipment
- Mechanically inclined specifically with diesels & pickup trucks with great problem-solving skills
- Works well independently and with others.
- Great communication and organized with attention to detail.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced and stressful environment.
- Member of Local 18 Operators Union.
Physical Requirements
- Must be able to bend, stretch, kneel, and squat to perform repairs and inspections.
- Must be able to lift 75 pounds at times.
- Must be able to work safely in a noisy area with many odors present.
- Workplace area will be in and outside; potentially in weather elements at times
Pay: From $35.00 per hour
Expected hours: No less than 40.0 per week
